THINE EYES BLEED INTERVIEW
June 15, 2006

Ed Martin for Prophecy21.com: Did you guys have a good time on the Soulfly tour?
Justin Wolfe Vocals for Thine Eyes Bleed: Yes, actually that was fucking awesome. It kinda came outta nowhere, it was very last minute. We were thrown on in like the last week and a half. It was fucking awesome though we were playing for solid crowds every night. And we had heard some rumors about Soulfly and what not, but they turned out to be one of the best bands that we've toured with crew-wise and band-wise. They were super cool and really took care of us. It was actually probably the best tour we've done to date, to tell you the truth.

P21: How big of an opportunity do you feel like this tour is for the band?
JW: The Unholy Alliance is probably the biggest opportunity we could get, being in this genre of music. It's not that we haven't worked our asses off to get here, but any band that's in this genre would pretty much die to be on this tour. So we're so stoked, it's a dream really. This is the first night so it was a little shakey, but I dunno. It's just crazy getting to tour with some of your favorite bands and watch them every night and get to hang out.

P21: Were the crowd reactions as good as you hoped tonight?
JW: To tell you the truth, everything was a little bit rushed coming together because everything was a little behind because it's the first day. So the crowd wasn't actually let in on time, but after the first few songs, it kinda kicked in and our sound got together and the response was fucking great. People were cheering and nobody was throwing shit at us which means you're doing something right at a Slayer show.

P21: Do you think you're going to have to change your stage show at all to adjust to playing crowds this size?
JW: Not really, it's a little bit different, but really you just have a little more room to move and be free. You don't have to worry as much about tripping over anybody's shit or bumping into each other. It's actually a little bit more comforting as far as rocking out. The sound is a little bit of an adjustment to us, we've never played anything near this big, but that'll come in a few days. I mean it felt pretty good tonight, no complaints really. First one down and I'm sure three shows into it we'll really get into our rhythm again.

P21: Are you excited to be going to Europe after this?
JW: Extremely, I've actually never been to Europe, so I can't fucking wait, to tell you the truth. I dunno, I'm going to Europe for the first time with Slayer! For a band, to be exposed to Europe for the first time on a tour like this is just amazing. It's gonna do so much. We've done many laps around the U.S., but to hit a new country on a tour this huge it immediately kinda gives you some cred. So it's really gonna help us. We were so stoked when they asked us that like two months after they asked us about the U.S. It was actually just recently so we're really excited now. It just keeps getting better and better.

P21: How did the video shoot for Cold Victim go?
JW: It went good, that was actually a long time ago now, almost three years ago, so it was a while ago. It was our first video. We actually did that video and the album on our own with our management before we had a record label or anything. Then we basically just toured our asses off until we found a home, got signed and got to release it. That was a long time ago and I think we've grown a lot as musicians from touring. I think things have come a long way since then. I think it was a good experience, but I don't think it's really a good representation of our live show, or what we really are now. But you know, it was fucking cool and we can't wait to do another one now that we know what to expect.

P21: Do you have an idea of what song you'd like to do the next video for?
JW: I don't know if we're even gonna do another video for this album, because we're pretty much do for a new album. We'll probably just wait; we plan to start on the new album as soon as we can after this tour.

P21: For people who haven't heard you guys yet, how would you describe the sound of the band?
JW: With all the genres people have out there these days we don't really know which category we fall in. I just think it's like fast thrash metal, it doesn't really let up. We come out with like a six song fury and get off stage.

P21: What do you feel sets you guys apart from the rest of the field?
JW: I don't feel like there are too many bands coming out anymore that are just like balls out. A lot of bands are trying to like mix genres and having that catchy radio breakdown singing chorus to kinda try and sell some albums. We're just trying to keep that old school alive going out with straight up thrash. Rock out, just bring it and don't stop.

P21: What's your favorite part about being on the road?
JW: Playin everyday and not knowing really what to expect. Not knowing what's gonna happen everyday, who you're gonna meet, who's gonna do what. It's kind of like a different adventure every night everyday.

P21: What's your favorite song to play live?
JW: I'm actually really liking one of our new songs right now, but off of our album I'd say I'm really liking "Corpse You Up" it's been a fun one to play live. That's an awesome song; we did tee shirts for this tour that say that on the back. So I mean I really like that song a lot, but I think the new stuff is starting to sound really good the more we play it live.

P21: Where are some of your favorite places to play?
JW: Portland, anywhere in Colorado, Los Angeles, places with the good weed, Seattle. Actually we like Texas a lot too we seem to do real well there; there's a rowdy bunch of bands down there. I dunno we've done so many laps around the U.S. that like everywhere is awesome. And the venues that we're playing on this tour will bring a whole new perspective to any city that we've already been to.

P21: Thanks is there anything that you guys want to add?
JW: Nah, just thanks for coming out.
